The Japan Consortium for Area Studies (JCAS) is a new form of cross-organizational collaboration, comprising diverse organizations.
Member Organizations: The organizations (members) composing JCAS include educational research institutes of area studies in Japan, learned societies, NGOs/NPOs, and various research projects.
Management Members: The management members share responsibilities for promoting and supporting the activities of JCAS in various ways.
Board of Representatives: Consisting of representatives of Management Members and engaged in the coordination of overall JCAS activities, external negotiation, and admission of membership to JCAS.
Steering Committee: Mainly consisting of individuals belonging to the Management Members, the committee plans, implements and controls specific JCAS activities, through active discussion and communication via meetings or email. Its subordinate units include the Sections and Study Groups shown below:
